Funded by the Government of Japan under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects scheme, ChildFund Japan, in collaboration with the Davao Medical School Foundation, soon launches the project “Bridging the Gap: Improved Healthcare Access through a New Barangay Health Station in the Mountainous Area of Davao del Sur.”
This project aims to enhance healthcare access in remote communities by constructing a barangay health station, providing a patient transportation vehicle, and equipping the facility with essential medical tools—directly benefiting Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities in Davao del Sur.
Many indigenous families struggle to access adequate healthcare due to the distance from hospitals and clinics. Some must endure hours of travel on rugged, mountainous roads just to see a doctor—an obstacle that can mean life or death in emergencies.
Through this project, ChildFund Japan and the Davao Medical School Foundation will bring healthcare closer to indigenous communities. This is especially critical for pregnant mothers, who will now have the opportunity to give birth closer to home, ensuring safer deliveries and better maternal health outcomes.
