Frequently Asked Questions

What is ChildFund Japan?

ChildFund Japan is a child-focused development organization that believes in the intrinsic value of each child. It was established in 1952 as a recipient body for ChildFund International (formerly Christian Children’s Fund) sponsorship funds in support of Japanese orphans following World War II.

Since 1975, ChildFund Japan (formerly Christian Child Welfare Association – CCWA) has been working in the Philippines, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to help deprived, excluded, and vulnerable children, families, and communities through meaningful, sustainable solutions. ChildFund Japan was registered as a Non-Profit Organization and became the 12th member of ChildFund Alliance in 2005.

What is the ChildFund Alliance?

ChildFund Alliance is a global network of 11 child-focused development and humanitarian organizations that help children and their families overcome poverty and the underlying conditions that prevent children from reaching their full potential. It has reached 70 countries including the Philippines wherein three Alliance Members, namely ChildFund Japan, ChildFund International, and Educo, have active projects.

ChildFund Japan Philippine Branch, ChildFund Philippines, and Educo Philippines are non-profit and non-government organizations under the three Alliance Members respectively. As part of the ChildFund Alliance, all are committed to promoting children’s rights and transforming children’s lives.
