PROJECTS

For the past 50 years, we have worked in 52 areas across the Philippines. Presently, ChildFund Japan Philippine Branch has nine (9) active projects in the following locations: Metro Manila, Santiago City, Guimaras, General Santos City, Silang, Baler, Cagayan de Oro City, Dipolog City, and Davao City, and Marawi City.

Santiago, Isabela (Project 1027) – Univeristy of La Salette, Panuluyan Center

The Panuluyan Center is a project under the University of La Salette Inc. The University of La Salette is a private Catholic, coeducational basic and higher education institution founded in 1951 and run by the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette in Santiago, Isabela, Philippines. Through a partnership with ChildFund Japan in 1995, the Panuluyan Center was established and provided educational support to 1,591 sponsored children in nine barangays for over 29 years.

General Santos, South Cotabato (Project 1034)- Nortre Dame Business Resource Center, Lanestin Development Center 

The Notre Dame Business Resource Center Foundation, Inc. (NDBRCFI) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation established in 1993. It is dedicated to the formation of young Filipinos in all levels of learning. One of its projects is the NDBRCFI Lanestin Development Center, which started in 1996 and has served over 1,655 sponsored children in four barangays with school supplies provision, school allowance assistance, and other developmental activities for both children and their families.

Special School Project

Silang, Cavite (Project 1035) – St. Magdalene of Canossa Center

St. Magdalene of Canossa Center is a project partner of ChildFund Japan in partnership with the Canossian Daughters of Charity. The project started in Dasmariñas City, Cavite in August 1996 and ended in May 2012, while the project in Silang, Cavite started in June 2012 and is still operating to date. Project 1035 has served 793 children in Dasmariñas and 787 in Silang. Through the sponsorship program, these children were provided educational assistance in elementary, high school, and even college. The project also provides capability building as it aims to empower children and families in the community.

Baler, Aurora (Project 1044) – Saint Francis Center

Established in June 1984, Saint Francis Center – Integrated Area Development for Aurora (SFC-IADA) collaborates with ChildFund Japan to support community-based development in Aurora, Philippines. Led by Fr. Francis B. Lucas, SFC-IADA has served over 1,850 sponsored children and their families in Baler and San Luis, fostering local cooperatives and organizations. Currently, the program focuses on additional areas, benefiting 450 children through ongoing development initiatives. 

Cagayan de Oro & Marawi (Project 1048)- ECOWEB, Pedro Calungsod PEACE Project

The Pedro Calungsod PEACE Project is a non-profit organization assisted by ChildFund Japan and other entities in aid to children and families in communities. The project was established in 2006 and has assisted 857 sponsored children since then. Starting in 2023, the project is managed by ECOWEB, Inc. or Ecosystems Work for Essential Benefits Incorporated. It is a non-stock, non-profit corporation, and a national non-government organization based in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte.

Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte (Project 1051) – Mindanao Resource Institute for Community Empowerment, Lihok Bata Development Center 

Since June 2006, Mindanao Resource Institute for Community Empowerment (MINRICE) has partnered with ChildFund Japan to empower underserved communities in Dipolog City. Operating through the Lihok Bata Development Center, MINRICE collaborates with local and national agencies to provide quality education and developmental support to 452 children and their families in five upland barangays.

Davao del Norte (Project 1052) – Davao Mecial School Foundation, Institute of Primary Health Care

As the community service arm of the Davao Medical School Foundation, the Institute of Primary Health Care (IPHC) has been a pioneer in participatory development since 1978. Over the past four decades, IPHC has impacted over 400 rural and urban barangays in Regions XI, XII, and Caraga. In collaboration with ChildFund Japan, IPHC established the Paglaum Center in 2004, offering educational support to 347 sponsored children across three upland barangays in Davao del Norte. 

Metro Manila (Project 1053) – SM ZOTO

SM-ZOTO Incorporated is a federation of 646 urban poor local organizations in twenty eight (28) relocation sites in Metro Manila and nearby areas. As of 2024, SM-ZOTO supports 100 sponsored children in Navotas, Caloocan, and Malabon.
