Cultivating Connections: Julius Cagampang’s Approach to Farming and Community Leadership

Julius Cagampang, the project manager of ECOWEB working in the sponsorship program in Cagayan de Oro and Marawi, balances his professional responsibilities with his passion for farming. He is also the proud owner of Genesis Farm, a rubber tree plantation with other crops. In his free time, Julius enjoys nurturing his plants, reading, and spending time on the farm—a reflection of his balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

Julius approaches farming with care and insight. “Why do farmers prefer to plant their crops in columns? It goes beyond just spacing, irrigation, and simple access. Aligning crops reduces resource competition. In life, too, one must connect with their source, intentions, and end goal to manage conflicts in difficult situations,” he explains.

His understanding of farming is deeply philosophical, blending practical agricultural knowledge with personal and spiritual growth. Julius believes that the skills he’s honed—planning, management, and careful observation—are the same ones that help him connect meaningfully with people and the community. Just as crops are interconnected with consumers, true community impact requires considering the fundamental building blocks of society. His approach to both farming and community service emphasizes thoughtful stewardship and the power of interconnectedness.
