At a young age, Gizzelle has always wanted to become a teacher. She was inspired by her very own teachers, especially her third-year high school math teacher.
Her dedication pushed her forward to reach this dream despite all the challenges she has faced. Gizzelle’s mother has succumbed to complications of her illness, and her father has struggled to support their education. Thankfully, ChildFund Japan and Saint Francis Center supported her studies until she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education.
Fast forward to today, she has been teaching Mathematics to high school students in San Luis, Aurora, for 12 years, imparting the importance of education. “Strive hard and continue your studies so that you can reach your dreams,” she advises students. And just like her, Gizzelle’s two siblings went on to finish college, and one even became a Science teacher.
By supporting her siblings’ education and working as a public high school teacher, Gizzelle has undoubtedly paid forward the aid that her sponsors provided her. “I felt [the sponsors’] care and concern. The letters they send inspire me to keep pursuing my dream,” she said.
