“From 2010, I met great people behind Childfund Japan. Their efforts lead to a greater roadmap to success.” — James Cuaton
From being a sponsored child of ChildFund Japan and project partner Pedro Calungsod PEACE Center, James Cuaton now serves as an inspiration for other children in his community. In a recent interview, he recounts how he achieved his dreams through hard work and the opportunity provided by our sponsorship program.
Growing up as the youngest of six siblings in a small community, James struggled with his education. His parents’ salaries as a food vendor and family driver were insufficient to provide for the family’s needs. Thankfully, he had the opportunity to be part of our sponsorship program for six years from Grade 3 to 8.

Through the educational support provided to him, James diligently strived for his future. As a sponsored child, he became a student leader and actively participated in community activities. Choosing not to rely solely on his sponsorship, he utilized his passion for photography and videography to work on side hustles to provide for his needs.

He has finished college with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) and now works as a Sales and Admission Specialist and IT instructor. By excelling in his chosen craft, he continues to inspire other young children.

James’ success is the fruit of the combined efforts of our sponsorship program and one’s perseverance. Encouraging his fellow sponsored children, he reminds them to stay motivated and set clear visions for themselves.
